Well, Lucy Lennox and May Archer came to my rescue by way of a book that made snort laugh more than once and snicker like someone who knows the polite thing to do is to look away but where the heck is the fun in that? Another great bonus? This book is a complete standalone.įor the past ten years, twenty-eight-year-old Brooks Johnson has gone from college student to graduate to hardworking advertising executive in New York. Something to take me away, if even for a couple or so hours, from the hustle and bustle of my daily norm. It's the end of the month-the end of the first half of the year-and with so much going on in my offline life, I desperately needed a break. This book left me with a curled lip and resentment that I wasted so many hours on it.You know how you come across something and you have no idea just how much you needed it you already have it? That's what Fakers was to me.

Nasal voice and annoying laugh, and awkward sounding humour. How it got resolved just didn’t work for me either. It’s like the authors just didn’t know how to make the ups and downs in this book. Finally the drama at the end and Mal’s freak out, the things he said, and his decisions were just ridiculous.

The whole premise seemed a bit awkward and unnecessary, and the drama of faking didn’t seem to be enough to base a story on. Actually, all the female characters weren’t likeable. Paul is portrayed as overwhelmed by her beauty, and her liking being adored by him despite his “thinning hair”. She was petty and shallow, and we were supposed to like her? The only “redeeming” feature the authors gave was that she was pretty. However, this book had too many annoying things. She seems to have a loyal following that leave over inflated positive reviews so it’s always difficult to really gauge how good a book of hers is. This book would have been heading towards a typical 3 star ok read which is what I usually give Lucy Lennox stories, with their small town characters and slightly cringeworthy humour.
